Lecturer and teacher
Eddie was teacher in physics and computer science at a secondary school in The Hague(’77 - ’89), lecturer system development and programming at the Hague University (’86 - ‘90). In 1989 he joined the department for Library and Information Science (LIS) as lecturer for documentary information science. In 2001 he became lecturer knowledge management at the at the Hague University
Childfriendly cities
In 2004 he joined IIUE as a programme manager for the Childstreet2005 project.
Childstreet: an initiative aimed at childfriendliness (inviting and save) of the public area in cities. When considering traffic safety we use triple E perspective; engineering, education en enforcement.
KiSS: KidsStreetScan, a tool to review the child-friendliness of a street in 6 aspects:
- Protection
- Walkability
- Cyclability
- Criss-Crossability
- Enjoyability
- Playability
Since 1996, Eddie Kips works as a volunteer for the Dutch Cyclists Association. He has been the chair of the Delft section (1996-2001) and since 2000 coordinator for regional Haaglanden affairs.
